It means if you trust someone too much, it/the person might cause you to feel vexed or stressed in the future.

"If you choose [the path] to trust others, it may well be you that ends up out of pocket."

From the links below and as the others have said it's a Thai proverb translating roughly as Don't be too trusting or you'll end up sorry.
The example given in the second link is:
When I wanted to open a spa business with my friends my mother warned me with the proverb อย่าไว้ใจทาง อย่าวางใจคน จะจนใจเอง but I didn't listen and trusted my friends. I ended up being swindled out of a lot of money.
