I'm here on a visa exempt (30 days on arrival). I was due to visit immigration tomorrow but just realized immigration will be closed for the holiday. My permission to stay finishes tomorrow (23rd). I am a married to Thai and want to stay for a further 60 days based on being married. By the next office day I am going to be on overstay, is there a grace period because the immigration is closed for the holiday. Despite being on overstay will I be able to visit immigration on Monday and still apply for the 60 days ?

Yes. If the office is closed when your stay expires you can still extend it on the next working day without penalty. Never a good idea to leave extensions to the last day. Nothing is lost by applying early as the extension always starts form when the current stay finishes.

Thanks elviajero, I was thinking I may have to do an emergency visa run to avoid overstay. Just out of curiosity, even if I was on overstay regardless of holidays etc, could I still apply for the 60 days based on being married ?.

One or two days "overstay" will not be charged if immigration was closed. Application for an extension must, however, be made as soon as immigration is open.

Decisions regarding extensions applied for with overstay generated whilst immigration is open is at the discretion of the IO.

In general terms the greater the overstay the less chance of an extension.
