What Would Make You Leave Thailand, Permanently?
yeah if US bankers decided to stop doing extra work for expats and refuse to extend account for overseas then I would probably depart unless the US govt would send my pension straight overseas then maybe I would still stay here...would have to determine the service and value thereof. Right now I have no worries about taxation of foreign funds (pension only) even if worldwide taxation of income since I would still be protect from taxes IAW DTA and LTR. But who knows what the govt may eventually decide to do on that front. I did read this morning that the government seems to be waking up to the Chinese zero-dollar businesses yet they seem to concentrate on appeasing that govt even though it seems that it will cost them on re-selling Chinese merchandise as Thai-made. -

Report Swede, Aussie Found Dead Hours Apart in Same Pattaya Condo
It is truly a horrific thing. I had a very close friend here when I was living on Samui, smart guy, good looking, a lot of game, really good with the ladies, great sense of humor and very charming. But he was just skating by financially and he ended up falling on his butt and going broke, and as most of us can imagine going broken Thailand is not fun. After trying absolutely everything he could he accepted help from his family under the condition that he admit the 10-year Thai experiment did not work, and that he not return to Thailand. So he moved back to his brother's home in Phoenix, six months later after working in Kmart (due to all of his skills being outdated), he hung himself in his brother's closet. I think the devastation of not seeing a way to return to Thailand, which he loved, combined with a dreadful life back in the US making minimum wage, was just too much to bear. Needless to say it was devastating for all of us, he was a really great guy. I will always miss Jerry. -

Report Cannabis Clash: Small Businesses Fear Monopoly Under New Rules
I find this all a bit perplexing......how many people in Thailand are likely to qualify for medicinal cannabis? In the Uk there seems to be about three kids all of whom suffer fits 24/7. -

USA Epstein Prosecutor Fired: Maurene Comey Out in Sudden Move
It amazes me how much like Thai politics US politics has become and how willingly complicit the public is. At least thais get out on the streets and burn tires every once in a while. -

Report Cannabis Clash: Small Businesses Fear Monopoly Under New Rules
I think the whole idea is a disaster, I was never really for the overt proliferation of the shops like we see in Bangkok and Pattaya with their NEON sign etc.. And I guess the Thais did not like it eaither. I am not against the idea of people using Cannabis recreational but would prefer it to be more covert.. Now they will need a doctor to sign off on the sale, which in all likleihood anyone can walk in and say they have a bit of back pain or trouble sleeping and the doctor with incentive to sell will sign-off on it without question. This will keep the supply going and the dope tourists coming.. but what about the doctors?? I'm pretty sure they are better off treating sick people but No, they will be lured by higher market rates working in dope shops.. Does Thailand have enough doctors to waste on this?
