I have yet to find any published news speculations, as to the logical reason why, an advanced Russian- made missile, was fired upon an obvious, non-military commercial airliner.

The nationalization of the Malaysian Airlines System (MAS) on September 1, 2015, was perhaps the next best rational survival move to make, with all things historically considered, for the year of 2014. With the exception of the content within the upper-lesft starr-field section, the Malaysian national flag is an exact duplicate of the U.S. flag.

With the ever increasing global disdain toward many things symbolically “American”, one might wonder if the “powers-that-be” in Malaysia, have ever considered conducting a “brain-storming” workshop, focused upon creating a more original design, for their national flag symbol.

The fact that the current Malaysian national flag, is prominently displayed on both sides of the MAS aircrafts fuselages, just aft of the Pilot’s Cabin, appears to be (even from a distant binocular-viewing, ground position) a U.S. flag, despite the Crescent Moon symbol, in the star-field being prominently displayed, may have been a contributory factor, in provoking such an act of terrorism, against a passenger airliner.

The news reports stated that several other passenger aircraft had over-flown that exact same area, that same day. I remember, as if it were yesterday, as a MAS passenger, on an October 14, 2004 flight from Newark, NJ (USA) to Kuala Lumpur (with a Dubai refueling stopover), I watched out the window, as our MAS – Boeing 777 aircraft was being closely shadowed by a black painted Russian MIG-type aircraft, over the Persian Gulf, about 90-minutes prior to landing in Dubai.

To the trained military eye, recognizing the distinctive differences, may have been the saving factor. However, to the untrained-mindset of some back-woods, uneducated, local Ukrainian farm-boy (with a Militiamen’s undisciplined “hard-on”, and something to prove), being in possession of a sophisticated surface-to-air missile launcher, may have been too much to handle.

Perhaps that was the root cause leading to the tragic fate of the 298 souls aboard MH-17, that might have otherwise been avoided. Perhaps it was just an isolated, remote (hidden in the wilderness), individual act of insanity. So, perhaps that’s also the reason why the Ukrainian authorities (assuming their good conscience intentions) could never find the culprit, who pulled the trigger.

I’d be interested in reading other academic (pros or cons) “thoughts” on this topic, from other posters,. Thanks,coffee1.gif
