Evening all.

So now I am 'in country' on my 90 day single entry Non O visa. (Thanks for everyone who helped).

I will apply for a 12 month extension around 30 days before it expires, that gives me approx. 60 days to get all my stuff together.

As I will be looking for a job, I am not sure where I will be living when I apply, but in the meantime I need to open a bank account and get the funds transferred over in readiness.

My first question is this: Should I open a bank account in the same town as the immigration office where I will be living (and working) - or does it not really matter where it is? I know I will have to get a statement on the day or the day before, but I don't know if this can be done at any branch. I am in Bangkok at the moment, so I may just do it all in Bangkok if it doesn't make any difference.

My second question is which bank is the best for doing this?

I will also be applying for a work permit (once I have a job), and I have been told that having 'employment prohibited' stamped/typed on my visa shouldn't be a problem. Any views?

So any other help/advice would be much appreciated.

I have my marriage certificate and freedom to marry ready. I have a bank account, but it's a joint one, so I plan to open one just for the 400k.

Thanks again

Red.
