Super market re-wrapping Cadbury easter eggs for Christmas

I don't know if I'm being petty but today I was shopping at a well know high end super market (VM) my daughter spotted an item that was most likely chocolate shaped like a Christmas decoration. I suspected by the shape it was a chocolate egg. Needless to say I bought it and sure enough it was a Cadbury Easter egg with the original wrapping removed then replaced with household cling wrap covered in gift wrap.

I suspect VM did it to move old Easter stock by re branding it which feels wrong to me am I just being petty? Is it legal to do it without permission from Cadbury?

I have stood and watched staff in both BigC and Tesco remove expired date labels on fresh items (meat, fish, bakery items) and relabel them with later dates. They dont even bother to do it out the back where no one can see.

So nothing at all surprises me here.
