NACC unveils “Anti-Corruption Foundation”

BANGKOK, 29 October 2015 (NNT) – The National Anti-Corruption Commission has officially unveiled a new foundation founded to promote the fight against graft.

NACC member Wicha Mahakun, chaired the official opening of the Anti-Corruption Foundation on Wednesday. It has been set up to promote and support activities designed to instill ethics and moral values in the minds of the people of Thailand, particularly children and the country's youth.

It is intended that the foundation assist in all anti-corruption activities while offering public recognition of those agencies and individuals who have succeeded in fighting graft.

Mr. Wicha said that the foundation, whose office is located at the NACC headquarters, has a mission to help citizens become more involved with the work of the anti-graft agency.

He added that Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha will chair an event to further promote the foundation and gain more support from both state and private sectors and related agencies, to help carry out the anti-corruption policy of the government.

So...yet another committee for the government to pour money into, on the pretence of fighting graft and corruption.........

The corruption fighters are most likely to have supported corruption throughout their careers.....!

With the level of corruption in Thailand stretching from the very bottom of the tree to the very top of the tree, and given the constant bleating about law and order and getting serious about corruption, I would have thought that it would be easy to see the lines of criminals processing through the courts on their way to prison. But it seems not.

My personal view it that this muppet and in fact the whole NACC will not be taken seriously inside or outside of Thailand for as long as they say that people like Chanocha do not need to account for their assets or that Thaksin got a fair trial.

Until that day dawns, they're only good for a few cheap laughs and everyone smarter than a caterpillar knows it. Whatever they may actually say.

My experience with working class Thais is that the only thing they don't like about corruption is that they don't have a way of getting a share of the action. Many of them dream of a government or similar job for their kids where a lot more than the monthly salary comes home. The government can never "instill ethics and moral values in the minds of the people" when they (at all levels) are providing the graft role models.

Now there is a cash cow waiting for some hay. Maybe easier if list agencies, businesses, whatever that aren't corrupt in Thailand.

The irony is that there is a lot of money to be made for the officials setting up this new committee.

Very well said, another fogging so that the root of the problem is not touched. Ask the bar owners in a prominent Pattaya area last week who were 'arrested and fined' for late trading by his fellow former collegues.
