Exports to US account for <3% of Chinese GDP. If they no longer need to worry about sanctions, they can more than make up for it by selling wunder waffles to Russia, Iran, North Korea, and Mexican cartels. -

The USA in the long run has its own resources and ability to produce food. If things go really badly America will suffer and China will implode. The other thing is we can't leave it how it is. It's a matter of national security should we ever have to go to war with China. We needed to do something decades ago. Doesn't look like Trump is backing down so I guess we are going to find out. An economic reset might actually be a good thing for young Americans who can't afford a house or anything else. A lot of boomer money is about to go up in smoke.- 1

Much of that was assembled in China from components manufactured by international (or even American) firms in South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan Province. ~$1000 is attributed to China for each iPhone, but there may be $950 in components shipped into China.
