How long do they keep people in the detention center ?

Featured Replies

I have seen farang in Thailand that I can't imagine would ever be able to pay the full overstay fee and a ticket back to their homecountry.

i am curious, what happens to them ? How long do they keep them in the detention center ? Forever ? Maybe like a sort of "life with no parole" ?

On the other hand, I can't imagine that they just put them on a plane back to farangland after a couple of weeks. Then people would deliberatly overstay and then report themselves to the police to get a free ticket back home.

Does anybody know how the system works ?

If person does not have the money to buy a ticket out of the country they will stay there until they do. The overstay fine is paid off at 200 baht a day that they are in detention..

"farangland"

Where's that? In between Narnia and Atlantis?
