Next week around the 10th or 11th of Oct I will be going to Immigration to renew my retirement visa. On the 5th of October I will be in Bangkok and at that time I would like to pick up the bank letter and letter from the embassy. Would their be any problem at Immigration because these two letters would be about a week old?

Also I read in another post that the health certificat is no longer srequired. Has anyone been to Immigration in the past few days to confirm this?

When I went in July I had got my bank letter on the friday and went to immigration the following week, as it was my first retirement visa there were a couple of minor hiccups. When I presented everything I was asked for my bank book which they compared with the letter and there was a diference of 10,000 baht which I had drawn out over the weekend although I still had the minimum in there. The nice gentleman said " no same no same" he then turned the bankbook page back so it read the same as the letter and photocopied it. On the pension letter the consulate prepared a letter for me (1800 baht) and told me to copy it and show him the original but give him the copy. This I did and the guy said keep letter for next year! As far as the medical certificate goes, mine cost 100baht so if I were going for my visa this week I would get one just to be safe !

1 week will be no problem.

I just renewed today and my papers were finished last week.

I already had the physical, so I didn't ask about the changes in that requirement.

A few days old should be fine. Over a week might be too long.

Make sure you do not update your bank book after the bank letter statement has been issued especially if you withdrew via ATM because they like to compare the amounts on the copy of the bank book and the amount stated on the bank letter even if you are above the 800k.

I would get the medical just in case

Good luck and let us know if they asked you to have the 800k balance for the last 3 months.
