Police clearance required for Non-B Visa at Suvannakhet?

Hi all,

Has anyone been to Savannakhet Laos, recently and applied for a Non-B, and do you need a police clearance there, like you do in Vientiane?

If you are applying for the non-b for working as a teacher I am sure you will need it now.

A guy I know just went there to apply for a business visa to work as a teacher and was not asked for one. He got a three month single entry non-immigrant "b" visa without any problems.

If you should need one, you can apply for a Thai Police Clearance at

the Headquarters of Royal Thai Police in BKK. It took me 1 month and

cost me 100B when I applied for one there last January,

I just got back from Laos and didn't get my visa because I didn't have a police clearance, so beware and save yourself a headache. There is actually an example on the large board for a B visa for teachers and the police clearance is in it.
