Dear Friends,

I am an American citizen and about to follow my Fiancée to Thailand to live for a few years. Who should I go to to ask about taxes from income? If i work in Thailand, will my income be taxed, even if I am no longer in the States and using its resources?

Does anyone know where I should go to find the answers to my question? It would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I don't know what to prepare for. Please give me some guidence. I have never left the states and do not know what to expect. Work Visa's and such. please help.

do a LOT of reading on this forum <<and even before that on the main Thaivisa.com site>> ... many many jobs are closed toforiegners here.

re Taxes ----- you will need to file but ... income derived while living overseas is tex-exempt for the first ~$82,500 USD ... providing you are out of the USA for ~330 days a year.

NANNYLE - you know the score back home - Uncle Sam wants his slice of the cake if you are working here - I want bore you with all the detail , its all on the various gov websites, but form a Thai point of view - if you work here legally for a company they will tax your salary for Thai tax purposes at source i.e. you will get a net figure - its then up to you to square with the tax man back home.

Who are the best people in the buisness -- there are loads of guys around, you may like to check out www.amchamthailand.com and have a chat with a few of its members.
