November 4, 201510 yr Got a leaking toilet and have been promising SWMBO I'd fix it sooooon. Now got around to it and it seems that the flange between the toilet and the pipe was not installed correctly. So I can buy a new flange, got some silicon and can put it all back together again, but will it leak again? I have enclosed some pics. Do I need to make the hole height even all the way around, as my hole is higher on the RHS, but will the rubber flange allow for this? Do I install the flange with a good layer of clear silicon, and then the toilet with a layer of white silicon around the base edges? Those two roule plugs to anchor the toilet seat too, don't seem correct, is that the right way to attach the toilet?
November 4, 201510 yr Most toilets are not installed with any flange - but yes they can be bought now (most contractors throw away) and mount without screws or flange using water proof cement to seal and hold toilet to tile. Seems to stand the test of time (decades) and can actually be removed fairly easily if ever required.
November 4, 201510 yr Wax gasket available at Homepro of course it really helps if things are done nice and neatly and tidily and above all spotlessly CLEAN surfaces.........good luck with that n Thailand...I did my own here it is, see nice neat clean tidy before sealing ANYTHING Flange siliconed and screwed to the floor............this wont be leaking anytime soon and none of that crappy mortar around the base of the pan which just sits on the tiles screwed down at the back and a thin line of clear silicone around bottom of pan also. Nice job. Did you get the flange and gasket at homepro or just the wax gasket? See any 'star pickets' or posts for making a temp fence out of that green shade cloth at homepro? For me it's a 250 km round trip to RoiEt Homepro and back, so be nice if I could pick up the fence posts as well on the trip.

I was away when all the finishing was going on, and everything, including instructions etc were thrown out. I doubt I'd be able to buy a flange on its own, so even if I get the wax gasket I'm still screwed. Will clean it up and do it the Thai way with the white cement. Thanks for your great job pic and advice.
