turk56
I already know that both clubs offer support networks for expats living in Thailand. What I like to know is if either of the clubs have greater advantages or disadvantages between the two.
slafriphos
PEC (Mercure hotel)'s lifetime membership is 600 baht. PCEC (Amari hotel)'s membership is 400 baht annually. Both membership cards offer discounts around town. I enjoy both clubs. I recommend subscribing to their newsletters.
ThaiBob
If you are German or Scandinavian you will prefer the PEC.
rmicheald
PCEC has a MUCH better breakfast.... Both clubs offer help to newbies and are worthwhile until you get setted into the Pattaya routine. After a couple of years it gets kind of routine and borint.

gk10002000
Sorry but this reminds me of the old Monty Python Movie Life of Brian. Judean People's front. We are the People's front of Judea. Funny scene.
chicowoodduck
Yup, the breakfast at the PCEC is laps ahead at the stuff at the other joint. The main thing I hate (dislike) about the PEC is that is the same old farts asking the same stupid questions week after week....seems like a bunch of old lonely guys who need an audience and a few beers just to be happy...? balo
PEC is a waste of time and money....unless you're over 70 years old and completely lost...
bazza40
Strange. I live in Chiang Mai, have activities such as golf and a classic car. I've never once felt any urge to join an expat club. What do they do that I can't do myself?
ggt
Went to a Pattaya Expats Club meeting...realized after awhile that there was some really good people there who do great work for the community...but...seems that most table conversation evolved into conversation about one's bf...not my cup of tea...did not return... Thunderbirds20
Pattaya Expat Club is more geared toward British people and Europeans, .. lots of times their topic of discussion is only for them. They have a one time membership fee taht is good for life Pattaya City Expat Club seems to be more American in its approach and has a yearly membership fee. I am Canadian and am a member of P.E.C. but am thinking I should check into PCEC as a possible better alternative for me

PEC is geared towards the British, and their current leadership makes no bones about how they dislike Americans. Why Nels does not take their leadership aside and explain to them what leadership means is beyond me. The PCEC is open to all, with no prejudices. jacko45k
I would say the City Expats Club is attended by a more USA audience, the other is more UK/Australian. There is nothing to stop you attending both as a guest, perhaps deciding later.
jacko45k
PEC is a waste of time and money....unless you're over 70 years old and completely lost... Harsh. I am not yet 70 but attend. I enjoy the chat over breakfast with like minded friends before the meeting starts proper. I can certainly see how the meeting can be considered boring....(Dads Army I heard it called once....) If you spend most of the week out of town and isolated, socialising mainly with your good lady, it is a good break.
Eneukman
One is a democracy, the other is a dictatorship.. Very true. I am a life member of PEC though have attended a few meetings of the PCEC as a guest but not for some time. Alan

slafriphos
I only go to PCEC because the speakers are more interesting. I have sent emails to representatives of both clubs when I had questions. Both replied promptly with great suggestions. I believe both clubs' admin truly love Pattaya and want the best for their members.
