I live near several universities and often see those 'gorgeous co-eds girls' with their young Thai boyfriends ... until I take a close look and notice that their 'boyfriend' is a young female tom because those gorgeous co-eds are totally disenchanted with the shallowness of those young late teen boys of whom you are so envious.

"...because those gorgeous co-eds are totally disenchanted with the shallowness of those young late teen boys of whom you are so envious."

Right. I'm sure teenagers of either sex are all about hooking up with intellectually stimulating companions ... like elderly, skint farang who ride about on bicycles scoping out groups of teenage boys or those who have day dreams about what gorgeous co-eds decades younger than them really want in the way of male companionship.

this gecko guy is a pervert. He just tries to hide it.....................hahahaha.

My misses is a 'fresher' at CM Uni, over 200 on her course, mostly 19 year old girls.

They are always doing homework together.

Then there is the 17 year old girl that lives with us, and all her pals that come for sleepovers.

Teen Thai girl overload at my place!

I just hide.

Late teens and early 20s. Some older guys hookup with girls this age. To me, "eye candy" and that's about it. Nice to look at, but as soon as they open their months to talk, a smart guy will realized that these kids haven't lived life yet, which for me, makes them about alluring as an 80 year old woman. I don't mind teenage girls and uni-girls around, but if they are I simply go into 'fatherly' mode. My ears don't perk up until a gal over 30 comes into the room. So Thai teens, younger farang guys, and a certain segment of the older farang crowd can have them all.

Eye candy and a certain level of maturity...that get's my interest. About 35.

And one wonders who is mainly responsible for raising those " shallow young late teen boys"....mommy or daddy ?

Ah well....keep, like many on here, bashing the, young, thai males...dont need to look at the cause....

At the family level, Thai families are matriarchal, so it's mommy that does the nuturing...far too long imho. In the families that have a fairly responsible Thai teenage boy, the father is usually somewhat involved in his upbringing. Those that are just brought up by mommie are a different story. Unmotivated and on yaabaa. No future but back-breaking farming and not interested in that type of life, i.e., stuck! Then off to tech school, and for those not interested in that type of life either - they can be a problem.

I believe parenting is being lost on this generation. Not only here. I see it in the states too. Parents seem so obsessed with their children "liking" them, that they hesitate to instill any discipline. This generation feels really lost. Kids need to know their limits. It benefits them to know their parents care enough to show them those limits. I am very, very afraid about this current generation. I know people have probably been saying that for centuries. But it seems truer now than ever. Technology seems to have ruined the social skills of the youth.

I think you are right in your point about every generation feels the same way. There are good and bad sides to modern society and on balance I think as much as things change they also stay the same. There are plenty of bright, well educated young people coming up in the world, maybe they will learn from the mistakes of past generations.

Every generation of old farts always says the younger generation is lost. Rock and Roll drugs... ect and it never is. So I doubt it will be any different this time.

Awwww! You poor poor bugger! Although the teenage girls I know are typical teens.....they don't know what they want and if they do they don't know how to get it? Only very few have part time jobs and some having been living alone for 10 or more years (broken homes, both parents done the runner!) Of course they are in love with their girlfriends, boys definately cannot be trusted, especially when younger sisters fall foul of 30 year old letharios (who also do a runner when the lass is pregnant!). No hope and not much hope of a successful future! sad.pngbah.gifwai.gif

Maybe you wonder -- I don't. I am just amazed at how many times I see a gorgeous young Thai girl -- and I mean show-stopper gorgeous -- and then notice that her 'boyfriend' is another gay girl. I'll leave the psycho-sociological underlying causes to others.

I too have noticed many very nice looking young girls with Tom companions. The fact they are friends with Toms does not necessarily mean there is a sexual relationship.

True -- but from what I've been told, there usually is.

Perhaps you should get out more. Gay farang land is not the same here.

Believe it or not Gecko, the lads don't think their women are stunners.I have asked this question years ago.The like white women or whitish Thai's from the north.I asked,do you mind farangs getting a piece of the action, and they laughed.A Thai man has always beat you to it,go for it.Admittedly, there are a lot more farangs around these day,so a few lads might get narky.

Agree. Thai women with darker skin have a social stigma, means they are low class for working in the rice fields to Thai males. All the better for us falangs. Some of the Issan women are drop-dead gorgeous.

I'm not sure if they are up to mischief. Our house is vacant 10 months a year and the local lads have never caused us any grief.

I just think that they are being boys. Motorbikes, fishing, girls, setting fire to each other; the usual things.

Brilliant!

They are probably just doing what teenage boys of all nationalities do - hang out together, talk about girls, where's the next party. I know I used to at their age.

Finally, someone who remembers what it is like to be young and poor and not have many options for entertainment. Of course you just hang out with your friends until you can pool enough money together to buy a bottle of whiskey or a little ganja to share. Since the majority of Thais are poor you will often see such groups of young men, especially in the towns. Whenever I encounter such a group I usually joke with them about their holding a village meeting (ประชุมหมู่บ้าน )and that tends to lessen any tension or displays of machismo.

Finally, somebody gets it. Well observed. However, IMHO there is more to it. Manipulation, albeit soft, and control. Daughters becoming copies of mommy....education, especially in the thai context, has nothing to do with it.

I hope you are right. Somehow, I think this generation may be the exception. So far, I am fabulously unimpressed, with a few exceptions, of course.

WOW --what an interesting thread.

My Thai Wife just told me two (2) days ago about her Niece - Por - who had gone from

Tha Bo (35km west of Nong Khai) to Chiang Mai to nursing school.

Well ...she flunked out, did not do well with the schooling and grades .... and came back with a Tom Boy.

My Wife: "Por could not find a boy to like her."

Me: "What's the hurry. She's 17 or 18 or something. There's no rush!"

My Wife: "She just wants someone to love her. Thai boy no love her."

Me: "What? So Love Determines What Sex You End Up With? This Is CRAZY!!"

I think the "I cant find a man" thing is probably more a face saving thing. My sister in law is Tom. She's beautiful too. I could understand why they would get tired of unreliable drunken and lazy Thai men, and lets face it....who wouldn't prefer a gorgeous young pretty girl over a hairy ass boy.....But they don't go into a relationship like that because they can't find a man or are tired of men. They are born with that preference, as are many of the young men here

Think you might be a bit confused here. If you're saying that your SIL is pretty, and bored with Thai men, she is likely Dee, not Tom. Toms are not interested in men at all, generally, and dress as men, similar to butch lesbians in the West...

Reading this thread I've noticed most do not understand the difference between a Tom and Dee.

Secondly, I hazard a guess that just about every one of you lives, associates, and/or are partnered with Lo-so. The Lo-so uneducated lads are he ones mostly in groups pissing their time away thinking of girls knickers.

Thai teenage lads at good Thai schools and Universities are mostly keeping their heads down wanting more in life; have friends they socialise and interact with but not in cluster groups wasting their time. They also have a gf. I see it living in very close proximity to three Universities here in BKK. I have 2 nephews and nieces at these Uni's and my wife has business at each also.

There's quite a difference between lads from Nakon and same from middle to strong middle class here in the north side of the city.
