george Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Sonthi says martial law cannot be lifted in 10 days BANGKOK: -- Gen Sonthi Boonyaratglin, the chairman of the Council for National Security, said the martial law could not be lifted in ten days as demanded by the US government. "This issue has to be waited," Sonthi said when asked to comment on the demand by the US government for the martial law to be lifted in ten days. "I have to be in charge of security. If the martial law is lifted too soon, there could be problems." He said he would to wait until the interim government could settle down in its works before the martial law could be lifted. -- The Nation 2006-10-04

britmaveric Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Hmmmm interesting, bit ponderous why martial law can't be lifted!!!
onlooker Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Please dont criticise the Council for National Security they have the Thai nation's best interests at heart. And if they say that it cant be lifted, what are you going to do about it ( Other than anything that might get you arested - such as demonstrate, hold a meeting, post message on a webboard or mention it in passing to a former member of TRT.)
