Video Editing

Featured Replies

You can use a program like ACDSee to brighten and alter the contrast of a still picture, but is there similar softaware for video?

I have a short video of my sister-in-law's wedding taken by a digital camera and it is too dark. I don't want anything fancy, just want to lighten the whole thing. It's stored in .AVI format.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

VirtualDub (free) will do that. (use the brightness/contrast filter)

Katana,

Thank you very much. I have downloaded it and I'll give it a go tomorrow when I'm not so tired.

Katana,

It works fine and does just what I want. And I have no experience with video editing so it must be easy to work.

Thanks very much.

Derek

Glad it worked. I was going to post up a link on how to use filters in VirtualDub, but looks like you've managed already.

A search on Google would have turned up a guide as well.

I really like VirtualDub. The download is less than 1 MB in size but it is a very powerful program. Apparently it was written by an American, Avery Lee, in his spare time, while he was still only a student at university.

I have no experience of video editing but I have been working on computers since 1969. An ICL 1903A with 32K of main memory. Thats 32K not M. And the OS took 8K of that. Disc drives were removable, about 15 inches across four or five platters deep and held 8M. Programmes were loaded from punched card or punched paper tape.

Those were the days.

Thanks again for your help.
