Apt handle, Dreamer.

My question in this: do you need a college degree to get the required work permit to legally obtain work as a foreigner in the disco/bars/escort/massage .... line of work?

this reeks of troll to me, but who cares.

bkkdreamer, understand your emotional statement for wanting to work here, in the construction, fields whatever - but concerning your desperate plea to want to work in bars/discos/escort/massage, I have been told on good authority that you really need to have at least half a clue to find gainful employment...

...in other words you need not apply.

:o Doc I was going to quote the Castle as well, but didnt know how many people would get it! Certainly not this chap who wants to do anything ANYTHING at all even escort work to have a job in Thailand.

Its very very difficult to get a job in Thailand, even if you are a local. My brother in law took two years to get his first job.For foreigners, even more difficult. I am in the same position as you, willing to work at any job for any pay,but of course I'm not going or willing to work as an escort, most definitely. Its degrading and morally wrong.Anyways, there are no lack of locals in these lines,so what makes you think they are going to hire you, plus you cannot get work permit for these jobs.I have been sending out so many resumes for the last one year, but have got no response at all, when I'm willing to even pay for my own work permit application.

hello dear friends here thanks for those who replied my message even everybody has their own opinion everybody has their own way of thinking etc.that ok.

i just want to apologise for that i used the word ESCORT......i am sorry really it is not the proper word i should use in fact i wanted to say that if possible i wish to have a job like to help foreigners which visit thailand like tourists.so in fact i should use the word GUIDE or TOURIST GUIDE.i apologise sincerely for my mistake as here it is a place of good and respectable people who has dignity and fame right so i am also like you.just have the wish to live in thailand but seems really difficult as many of you suggested.thanks anyway.

Hi Dreamer,

Sorry if the board was a little harsh on you. Many of us dream of living in Thailand and often it really isn't easy.

You can't legally work as a tour guide as a foreigner as its restricted to Thais.

And hey, maybe not your goal, but it occurs to me there are some good looking younger foreign folks who work as sex workers in Thailand (maybe catering to the wealthy Thais?) and although illegal, when you go into sex work, legality isn't exactly a barrier.

hi friend thaiquila its ok the board was not harsh to me i took it easy as i said everybody has their opinion, but in fact the board showed me my error where i was wrong.

may be now if it seems impossible or very difficult to get a job or work in LOS so how about running business or investing there??..may be friends here who have some ideas can share with me as its obvious many foreigners run business in bkk/koh-samui/pattaya etc.your advices will be welcome.

My family used to go on holidays to Bonnie Doone and went out on Lake Eildon in the 2 stroke "speed" boat. Couldn't believe the Castle chose that place, of all places, to take the piss out of!

As for finding a job in Thailand, I'd say that your chances for finding and keeping half decent job varies inversely with how much you agree with the statement "the main reason I call Thailand 'heaven' is due to the 'nightlife' I have enjoyed there".

Many a person has come here for work, discovered discovered the nightlife, enjoyed it too much, lost their jobs and found themselves in an unpleaseant limbo of crap job and too many BG related bills to pay.

I am also looking for a job.

I don't want to get up for work before 11:00 am and would like to be done before happy hour at 15:00. I also don't want to work on monday's , to soon after the weekend. I also don't want to work on friday's, to close to the weekend. I am willing to do anything that I won't break a sweat at.

Who chances are better at getting the job ? me or dreamer

I`m new to this forum so o.k i apologise in advance for this remark!

Why is there so many scenics(ok my spellings shit) all this guy did was ask for some advise off fellow farangs and all he got was sarcasm, isn`t it what this forum is about, giving advise? if we all gave up so easy then i don`t think any of you(apart from the Thais) would be here now?

Come on guys, you know the score? :o

bkkdreamer: There are many in this forum that may be able to give you informaton or advice if we had more information from you about your resume, ie. age, nationality, work experience, education, etc.

I am sure that this happens somewhat, farang becoming escorts for wealthy Asians, but is it actually in-demand all that much? I cant see a bunch of Thais running around recruiting attractive farang. I have never personally heard of anyone even being approached about it. Seems a little far-fetched.

dirtyrider,

yes, there are some cynics here (that's the spelling).

However - read the original post. Nobody is knocking the chap's enthusiasm to live the dream of staying in Thailand with employment to support his way of life - but I found the scope of his employment request completely unrealistic.

my dream is to spend the second part of my life in LOS in the heaven of thailand.i agree to do whatever a job from the construction fields to it or even worst than this even in discos/bars/escort/massage......any kind of job

bkkdreamer came back and corrected himself to mean "tour guide" as opposed to "escort", but that still doesn't explain a foreigner trying to get a job in discos/bars/massage???

It's one thing to post a request for employment in a particular field of expertise/experience/interest, it is another matter entirely to sell your soul to the entire forum, and offer to do anything at all for a few baht.

This was fair game in my book.

Still - good luck to you bkkdreamer, maybe you will fnd what you are looking for.
