PHUKET: Fire broke out and quickly engulfed a house in the east side of Phuket Town this morning (Nov 13), causing an estimated B100,000 in damage. No people were killed or injured in the blaze.

Phuket City Police were called to the house, on Srisena Rd, at 10:50am and soon arrived with firefighters aboard three fire trucks.
Flames and smoke were bellowing out of the house, which was accelerated by a cooking gas cylinder exploding.

Firefighters took more than 20 minutes to put out the fire, but prevented it from reaching several rented rooms behind the main home.
The main house, belonging to Khwanjai Jehtee, 57, was completely gutted.

Matha Rassameekiri, 36, a tenant in one of the rooms for rent behind the home, told police that he was sleeping when he heard an explosion.

Speaking of cooking gas cylinders, I've always been amazed at the locations of the shops that sell them, often in the middle of residential areas, accidents just waiting to happen in my opinion.

Then there's the stocks of fireworks in small shops for New Year etc, all out in the open with no regard for safety.

So many potential accidents of all kinds here every day, nothing seems to improve. facepalm.gif
