Thailand for 45 days no visa

Featured Replies

I'll be coming to Thailand in december for 45 days and don't plan on getting a tourist visa, just the visa exemption stamp when entering Thailand.

will I have any problems at the airport since my flight back will be 15 days after the the visa exemption stamp expires? I plan on extending it at the embassy or possibly visiting a nearby country so shouldn't be a problem? Just want to be sure :)

You do not have to go out of the country - Just visit nearest immigration office and extend that VISA excempt stamp by another 30 days via form TM7 and 1.900 baht..

You will not have a problem entering the country without a onward ticket within 30 days of arrival but you may have a problem boarding your flight without one.

As said you can extend the 30 day visa exempt entry for 30 days at an immigration office.

  • if you want to be sure you should get a tourist visa.

Or if traveling without a visa you could book a cheap flight to a neighbouring country dated with 30 days.

Extensions of visa exempt entries are done at immigration offices not embassies.

As a frequent visitor I did need to show an air ticket out within 30 days to immigration on one of my visits. I don't believe an occasional or first time visitor would be asked. The one time I flew from the UK to bkk with a return ticket dated more than 30 days in the future the airline (Emirates) did ask about my plans. I had bought a cheap one way air ticket to Kuala Lumpur within 30 days so that satisfied the airline.
