Have airport re-entry permits been discontinued?

Featured Replies

This advice seems to indicate that re-entry permits are no longer being issued at the airport/s. It's not brilliantly worded, so perhaps someone has more definite, or up-to-date information.

If you have an extension of stay but would like to travel outside Thailand for a short period then you will need to apply for a Re-Entry permit. Unlike before that this can be secured at the airport, Immigration rules have changed and you can now apply for a re-entry permit at the following:

http://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand/re-entry-permit-thailand.php

IMO, that is not an official website.

Edit: And I was right, look at the bottom of that page

This is NOT the official website of the Thai Embassy.

Badly worded and out of date. You can still get a re-entry permit at the airport.

False and outdated info from a commercial website.

The Suan Pluh immigration office closed several year ago.

Thanks. I thought as much. Thank goodness for ThaiVisa and not having to rely on Facebook!

Second nonsense information from this source with the misleading name "Thai Embassy" posted within two days.

Be sceptical with reports that are not dated and use terms like "Immigration rules have changed".

What was the first?

I posted the question as the source was being given out as "fact" on Facebook.

Edit: to avoid people being misled, I'm happy for this thread to be closed.

Just to clarify: I was not referring to you.

Was some other thread.

Maybe I find it....

But its not the first time that a poster falls for the outdated information from this site.

Under the headline "Thailand Updates" / "New Rules for Visa on Arrival":

Its not about visa on arrival but about visa exemption at land borders.

The simply write that only 15 days are granted, an update about G7 countries getting 30 days (again) is missing.

And that is surely more than a year ago.

In the 90 day report topic: 7 days before, 7 days after, changed long ago to 15 days before, 7 days after.

So many bugs/outdated info. Not worth the hassle to further read.

I used it last week .........

Just a reminder; make sure you always have a spare photo with you as the machine was broken!
