Homemade Explosive Device Exploded on Board A321

MOSCOW: -- An explosion of the homemade explosive device of up to 1kg of TNT equivalent was the cause of the A321 crash in Sinai, Russian Security Service (FSB) head Alexander Bortnikov said.

"We know now it was a terrorist attack," Bortnikov said during a meeting on the results of the A321 crash investigation.

Russia: Plane brought down by homemade explosive device
LYNN BERRY, Associated Press

MOSCOW (AP) — A homemade explosive device brought down a Russian passenger plane over Egypt last month, the head of Russia's FSB security service said Tuesday, telling Russian President Vladimir Putin it's now clear the bombing that killed 224 people was a "terrorist" act.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for downing the Russian plane in written statements, as well as video and audio messages posted on the Internet following the crash.

"According to our experts, a homemade explosive device equivalent to 1 kilogram of TNT went off onboard, which caused the plane to break up in the air, which explains why the fuselage was scattered over such a large territory. I can certainly say that this was a terrorist act," FSB head Alexander Bortnikov said.

He said tests showed the explosives had been produced outside of Russia, but gave no further details.

All of the people on board, most of them Russian tourists, were killed when the plane crashed shortly after taking off from Sharm al-Sheikh on Oct. 31.

Putin vowed to hunt down those responsible for the attack.

"There's no statute of limitations for this, we need to know all of their names," Putin said. "We're going to look for them everywhere wherever they are hiding. We will find them in any place on Earth and punish them."

The Islamic State said the attack was retaliation for Russia's air campaign against IS and other groups in Syria, where Moscow wants to preserve the rule of President Bashar Assad.

Putin said Tuesday that Russia's air campaign in Syria "should not only be continued but should be intensified so that the criminals realize that retribution is inevitable."

He instructed the Defense Ministry and General Staff to present their suggestions on how Russia's operation in Syria could be modified.

"In this work, including the search to find and punish the criminals, we are relying on all of our friends," Putin said. "We will act in accordance with the U.N. Charter's Article 51, which gives each country the right to self-defense. Everyone who tries to aid the criminals should understand that they will be responsible for giving them shelter."

The Islamic State group has warned Putin that it would also target him "at home," but did not offer any details to back its claim. While releasing specifics would add credibility, the group may be withholding because its claim is false, because doing so would undermine plans for similar attacks in the future, or because the aura of mystery might deepen its mystique among die-hard followers.

IS has also claimed responsibility for Friday attacks in Paris that killed 129 people and wounded 350 others.

There must have been a lot of people that 'allowed' this to happen..
The security at Sharm are complicit in this mass murder.

Apparently a "Sun" journalist knew you could pay the security off there months before and they did nothing.

Those responsible will be sh..ting themselves every time they hear a Russian accent. I would not like to be in their shoes when the KGB come visiting.

It should be obvious by now that ISIS is a Cult of Death with these inhumane acts.

They will want to take as many with them as possible.

President Vladimir Putin has ordered special services to focus on finding those behind what Russia is now calling a ‘terrorist act’.

ISIL’s Egyptian affiliate has said it was responsible.

Reports that two Sharm airport staff have been detained in connection with the crash.

The Egyptians don't hold back with their interrogation techniques but I would think that any suspects would prefer not to be dealt with by the Russians:

Ironic that they found two scapegoats suspects so quickly after the news broke.

The FSB, which is the successor to the KGB, also offered the $50 million reward for information on who brought down the jet.

Might flush out a tip or two.

... And Airbus breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Why - everyone knew it was a bomb

Russian aircraft investigators brought with them to Egypt a complex apparatus designed to test the débris both inside and outside the plane.

This equipment enables the detection of aerosol-based explosives to a level of sensitivity of 20 nanogrammes.

They didn't find any trace of TNT, Tetryl, TNB, DNT, picric acid, dynamite, nitroglycerine, RDX, PETN, SEMTEX or nitrocellulose, inorganic nitrates, such as chlorine, bromine or peroxyde, used in improvised explosive devices.

The hypothesis of an explosion in one of the motors must also be discarded, since the turbine blades were discovered to be intact.

Wings' fuel tanks didn't explode and broke in the air, the debris on the ground shows them together.

Putin vowed to hunt down those responsible for the attack.

What about MH17 dear Putin?

It's the difference between murder and manslaughter. The Russian separatists didn't think they were shooting down a civilian airliner. I quite believe the claims that they didn't think anyone would be foolhardy enough to bring an airliner in range.

The Malay airliner had been flying in the major air corridor between north Europe and Asia, which isn't used any more since the shootdown massacre. Or used very little since.

The "Russian separatists" who fired off the missile don't know what they were doing nor did they care, which is a generous statement to describe their mass murder of everyone on board the plane.

Putin's already into his own deep and complicated ME mess in no time at all. Five will get you ten Putin makes it a hundred times worse in no time at all.

They will start shooting back, the way they are doing at the moment from inside their apartment in Paris. Two French swat equivalent police are down and two terrorists are dead, according to the reports of the moment.

IS hasn't any reason to cower at the sight or sound of Russians either.

These IS and all terrorist go out with guns blazing and bombs exploding no matter who's coming to get 'em. To IS a Russian is just another infidel. Nothing more. They might blow up another Russian plane just to prove it to people who think Russians are ten feet tall and kill a couple of terrorists each morning before breakfast..

Thus the idiot Russian separatist were too stupid to check flightradar24 to visualise civil aircraft overflying their territory and they can continue having nice dreams at night, yeah. I wish them thousand years of suffering.

Bet Putin's got a list of 40 names he's not showing anybody else. coffee1.gif

Putin's hit parade of his top forty.

Can one get any part of the $50 m by telling Vlad to start his search at ISIS.

I believe that particular tip is worth about ... $.02 US (unless you're one of Vlad's buddies, that is).

If Russia is that good why did they not act on the intelligence they were given,
