Renewing 30 day Visa Extension for British

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

Just trying to get my head round the new visa rules which I failed to look at before I arrived here a couple of weeks ago.

So...my situation. I arrived from the UK (I'm British) on the 4th of November at BKK with a Visa on arrival which I've worked out is called the 30 day Visa Exemption. I have a flight back to the UK on the 19th of December.....

So in a couple of weeks on the 3rd of December what is my best option to extend so I'm good until the 19th? I'm up in Chiang Mai staying with friends and wondering whether going to the Immigration Office gives me a 30 day extension for 1900 baht? Or is it only 15 or 7 days? And I've heard no more border runs at Mae Sai.

Flying out and back in is a last resort but hoping I can extend to as close to the 19th as is possible.

Many thanks

Leo

Yes, you can get a 30 day extension @ immigration for 1900 baht.

Visa exemtion means you don't have a visa. So how can you extend it?

Im no expert but im pretty sure you need to leave and come back.

My understanding is that is you go out by land, when you come back you get another 30 visa exempt. Most nationalities get 15 days only if they come back by land at a border, but nationals from G8 countries get 30 days. UK is a G8 country

You didn't get visa on arrival what you got was 30 day exemption, which yes can be extended at immo as the OP said.

I arrived without visa, and got 30 days visa exempt.

A few days before expire date, got another 30 days at Immigration for 1900Baht.

It's the permission to stay in the Kingdom which is extended

Ah ok, so how many time can you get 30 day extension?

And what are the requirements?

You can only get one per entry. As long as you were able to get another entry they would grant the extension.

Passport and TM6 departure card copies, a completed TM7 form and 1900 baht to get it.
