PHUKET: An American woman in Cherng Talay who has been woken up by roosters crosing in her Thai neighbor's two new chicken coops for the past month, is not content with local police's suggestion to simply close her doors and windows so as to filter out the noise, which they say is 'natural in Thailand'.

Scores killed in Myanmar jade mine landslide: officials

MYANMAR: At least 90 people have died in a huge landslide in a remote jade mining area of northern Myanmar, officials said Sunday, as search teams continued to find bodies in one of the deadliest disasters to strike the country's shadowy jade industry.

PHUKET: With Phuket being a world-class holiday destination, one would have thought that the island’s infrastructure would also be world class. Sadly, this is not the case. One only has to drive around the island to see how poor the roads are kept, or unkept, as the case may be.
