Suspected drink driving leaves smashed car at Phuket roadside

Although the driver of the vehicle left it at the roadside, they will face no charges as nothing other than the car was damaged.

PHUKET: -- Police are today (Nov 23) continuing to look for a suspected drink driver who crashed his car into an electricity pylon in Thalang last night (Nov 22) and fled leaving his vehicle behind.

Attorney-general recommends changes that will make prosecution free of political influence

BANGKOK: -- The attorney-general has formally recommended the chairman of the Constitutional Drafting Committee (CDC) to include an amendment in the draft charter that will make the Office of the Attorney General an independent organisation free of political interference and has its own prosecution commission to carry out personnel management, budgeting and administrative work.

Suspected Serial Arsonist Blamed for Fatal Shophouse Fire

Yutthana Onsuwan, 26, is led through a staged recreation of his alleged crime Sunday (Nov 22). He’s accused of burgling then setting fire to several buildings, the most recent of which killed a woman sleeping inside.

BANGKOK — Police have arrested a man they believe to be a serial arsonist who set fire to a tailor shop in the Bang Sue district Friday, killing a woman sleeping inside.

Phi Phi requests more patrol boats, buoys and staff

PHUKET: -- An expert adviser from Bangkok submitted a proposal for more boats, buoys and staff to man Phi Phi national park. The proposal was submitted to the Department of National Parks Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) this month.

Smuggled goods worth Bt100m seized

BANGKOK: -- Bt100m bahts worth of goods have been seized by the Customs Department after being smuggled into the country to evade tax. The goods were discovered in two trucks in Chachoengsao’s Bang Pakong district. The drivers of the two trucks were arrested, they have been named as Banjong Saengpong, 48 and Chang Thinkhamcherd, 45.

Jawbone cuts 15% of staff in second round of layoffs

SUNNYVALE: -- According to tech news site TechCrunch, Jawbone plans to lay off around 60 employees, which is approximately 15% of its workforce. The company will also close its New York office and downsize at Sunnyvale, CA and Pittsburgh offices as part of its streamlining.
