Clashes in Nusaybin in south eastern Turkey



NUSAYBIN: -- Police fired tear gas as clashes broke out in the south eastern Turkish district of Nusaybin. They happened after a group of deputies from the pro-Kurdish HDP party tried to enter several districts in the area.

A 24-hour-curfew is in force preventing people from leaving their homes. It was brought in because of fighting between security forces and the terrorist Kurdistan Workers Party the PKK which has been ongoing for 10 days.

The deputies, three of whom began a hunger strike on Thursday say the curfew is illegal. Several were injured in the clashes and one is being treated in hospital.

On the border town of Akcakale people were rushed to hospital after a bomb explosion across the border with Syria.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said a huge blast was heard when a bomb on a motor cycle exploded killing three people and injuring dozens in the centre of the town of Tel Abyad.
