BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will join the nation to celebrate the "Loy Krathong" festival tomorrow at Phadung Krungkasem canal in front of Government House.

Government spokesman Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd stated that the prime minister will be participating in the Loy Krathong ceremony to be held at Klong Phadung Krungkasem alongside Government House.

The ceremony is planned for 6.00 pm on Wednesday, he said.

He also said the prime minister also called on Thai people to be good hosts and welcome all tourists by fostering goodwill and friendliness.

He said an official request has been put forward on behalf of the government asking all Thais to welcome all guests to the Thai traditional celebration.

He stated that this year’s Loy Krathong festival would attract more than two million tourists both locally and from abroad, and expected to generate over 3.75 billion baht in cash flows for the country representing a 3% increase over figures for the previous year.

He also said that 2015’s celebrations will be the most exciting and vivacious for the past 3 years.

You would think they know this already,Thais need to wake up before they lose out to competing markets.

Be excited and vivacious!!! or else!!

Didn't he also say to charge foreigners 10 times more than the going price for products? Now that's being a good host. Now show a big WELCOME smile

Only for Loy Kratong sad.png

What a surprise, the best festival for years, more tourists and of course increased income and the Minister of Tourism is nowhere in sight.

Or else!

I'll watch it from the telly so I can have a cold one at the same time.

We've already started to clean the yard at our house, cut the bushes, cleaned the road and many other preparations for any tourists who might come by our place.

Of course will they receive free fresh cooked food cooked by my wife, free beer and wine and if some of them want to check their TVF pages, they can be online for free as well.

Why would you not listen to the good general's words? I mean, C'Mon, he's such a nice guy where you must listen to his diarrheadaily speeches. Life's great. thumbsup.gif

Aye, be nice on Wednesday, Thursday is free for all, farang hunt opens

rip them off afterwards

The Thais already do that. It is the man in charge who has stated it that is the man who is ruining it for the average Thai

Of course, here in Pattaya, because it's Wednesday tomorrow for the festival, all the beaches are closed for cleaning. Never one time has anybody cleaned anything on the beach on a Wednesday, but that does not deter the "powers that be". There will be NO celebration on the beaches tomorrow. So, there's only one place to celebrate: Bali Hai Pier. This pier holds a few hundred people, so the thousands of tourists that have come here for Loi Kratang will probably see nothing. Guess who will not come to Pattaya next year?

The newspapers here have previously said that "people are in favor of beach closures on Wednesday". I wonder who they talked to? Certainly not any tourists.

"...charge foreigners 10 times more than the going price for products"

Such as which products?
