Residential certificate process, takes about 3 weeks!

Featured Replies

Gentlemen,

Greetings of the day!

Yesterday, I went to the immigration office at chang wattan to issue a residential certificate, which usually issued on the same day,

the officer told me that the procedure has been changed, and they will send it to my address by EMS mail, it takes around 3 weeks time to be received, I discussed further with the officer, he explained more in friendly manner that after the recent bombing attack the rules changed to this new procedure, the certificate will be valid for 1 month only, not 3 months as before,

so guys I share this with you to be prepared in advance, if you are buying / selling car or bike that registered under your name,

consider to apply for the certificate a month earlier, Good luck to all,

Regards.

I has been 3 weeks for some time now. It can even taken longer from some reports I have seen.

Most offices only issue them with a 30 day validity.

If I am not mistaken, most Farangs want a "Certificate of Residence" to apply for a Yellow House Book or Drivers License.

If I read this correctly, a Farang must apply within 30 days for such documents instead of 90 days as before? Right ?

Thx & cheers.

Any foreigner who wants to buy a car, motorbike, apply for Thai driving license, He'She needs to obtain a certificate of residence,

this certificate issued from Thai immigration office, in before, usually you get it on the same day,

Now, they will not give it you hand to hand, you just need to apply and pay 200 baht per copy, and they will send it to your staying address by registered mail EMS, hope this made it clear to you,

Not sure how many offices ever issued a certificate of residence valid for 90 days. I have only gotten one valid for 30 days.

Most people get them and then soon after getting it go to get their drivers license or purchase/register a vehicle. Probably the same for a yellow book but not all Amphoes require it.
