Anybody know anywhere that I can get an iPod classic repaired, I'm pretty sure the hard drive has gone, it won't sync properly, I have heard of people repairing them or even replacing the hard drive with SSD, anybody know anywhere, Pattaya area preferably.

Cheers.

The only place I could suggest is ground floor of Tukcom towards the rear on the right hand side if you enter from Pattaya Thai - iSmart shop. This guy repairs apple products.

What is the the size of your ipod? You could just buy a cheap tablet with a slot for a 64GB micro SD card and play your music through that.

DogNo1,

No, playing music isn't a problem, I have iPod Touch in my car, iPhone, iPad etc, it's an iPod classic, they don't make them anymore, I don't want to throw it away if it can be repaired

I'd confirm if I were you how much it is to repair before you do anything. The market, and therefore manufacture of the micro disks essentially evaporated with the old iPod classics so I doubt a replacement is going to be that cheap. May well not be worth it compared to the cost of a new ipod nano

Right, but mines only 80GB

I don't actually need it, I just don't want to throw it away.

I have 128GB iPhone 6, 32GB 3Gs, 16GB 4s, 32GB Touch, I really don't need it, but I sure do need to repair it if I can, only because they don't make them any more. smile.png

Simply replacing the hard drive will alter the functionality of the iPod. It requires a software update too. If you have this type of repair done, take your time to be sure everything is OK.

iPods are well worth repairing. You can replace the HDD with SD cards fairly easily (up to 1TB if you're really game). OP is your iPod 6th or 7th gen?

6th Gen 80Gb

^^With the 6th Gen you're going to be limited to 128Gb on stock OS. You can use Rockbox if you want to go higher.

Let me know if you need more info on suppliers of parts etc.

Thanks, I hooked it up to my pc and reformatted the disc then back to fat 32, hooked into iTunes and iTunes downloaded a new version of software, I don't know if it was because of formatting, it has never done that before, anyway, I downloaded a playlist of 1400 songs and put it in the car, so far so good.

I don't know what happened or whether it's just luck, I'll only use it in the car anyway, but thanks for the response, if I have future problems I'll give this thread a rebirth.

Cheers again. thumbsup.gif
