Coming to Thailand for 5 and half weeks ?

Featured Replies

I'm coming to Thailand just before Christmas Day but I'm spending 5 and half weeks I know I've got 30 days on my Uk passport , do I drive to hull from Southampton and get a single entry 60 day visa or could I just buy a ticket to let's say to Cambodia before I fly let say for toward the end of my 30 days , as proof I'm going to leave Thailand and before 30 days is up, then come back across boarder for a b 15 day visa and then Go home at end of January just so it shows customs at the airport , and in fact I'll nip of to Imergration in Bangkok and get the extended stamp for 30 days , main reason can't be asked to drive to hull tomorrow what do you people think ... Apart from me being a lazy C$@t

I'm not one of the experts here and I'm happy to be corrected. I speak up to say that if you haven't been to Cambodia or Laos you might take advantage of the opportunity.

Deleted... I'll let someone who knows for sure tell you about your back to back visa exempt entries and where you might go to get them. I only "think" I know, LOL.

Have a good trip.

Cheers.

My plan is to stay in Thailand the time with the Mrs but I can get my 60 day visa from hull tomorrow , but I have to do a five hour trip there by car and back just wonder if This will work that all dude

as said aboveby the one who is never sure yet he is sure to have an opiniontongue.png

depending where you are in Thailand, it might be a simple trip to a neighboring country for a short visit and a new visa to extend your stay in Thailand

We are located in Khon Kaen and when I go there for short visit, I enter on a 30 day and simply take an enjoyable trip to Nong Khi and across to Cambodia for the day and then extend my stay by re entering Thailand ,

all very easy and inexpensive. The wife loves the shopping there

I'm not sure if you can actually do a land border crossing to get a visa exempt entry anymore,

things have changed regarding this matter recently, so to be on the safe side i would get a

single entry tourist visa before you leave the UK.

There's no need to travel all the way to Hull when you can also get a single entry tourist visa

at the Birmingham consulate while you wait (about 15 mins) http://www.thailand-visa.com

There's also a consulate in Cardiff if that's easier to get to from Southampton, but i've never

used them before but you could give them a call and check what they can offer you first.

If you are in Southampton why go to Hull ?

London is closer .................

...I've got 30 days on my Uk passport...]

Are you saying that your passport expires in 30 days?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

You don't have to drive anywhere.

Post your application tomorrow too london you will have it back next week.

I think he means getting a 30 days visa exempt entry

Birmingham sound better to me and the reason I need to do it now is in so busy with work until I leave tomorrow is the only day of and I need same day service and London don't do that so I'm told , I would post but I'd be gutted if it got lost in the post so close to going

You could get a 30-day visa exempt entry and extend it for a further 30 days at an immigration office for 1,900 baht. The only problem with this (as I think you realize) is that the airline may gie you a hard time if you do not have a flight booked that leaves Thailand within 30 days. If you already have a return flight booked on the same airline, I believe the supervisor will let you check in. Their concern is that they are stuck with the cost of repatriating you if you are refused entry (which would not happen).

If of a nervous disposition, get a visa or cheap flight out within 30 days.

Having a return ticket doesn't really help the airline that much. Since he is travelling in peak season there is a good chance that the airline's flights are fully booked, in which case they will have to make arrangements on another airline. That could very well cost them much more than what the OP originally paid. And in addition to having to repatriate the OP, the airline will also be fined for allowing someone to travel to Thailand without meeting the entry requirements.

I agree that the chances of the OP being refused entry if he reaches Thailand is remote, but however remote the airline is fully within their rights to deny boarding to anyone without a visa or a forwarding flight within 30 days. And in case the airline should have overbooked their flight, denying the OP would be a convenient and cheap way to remedy the situation.

Pretty sure you can extend your 30 day exempt for another 30 days for 1900 Baht at any immigration office. Ubon Joe knows for sure.

Yes, But could have a problem at the airport with the return flight 5.5 weeks later

You are quite right.

However, I have many times traveled to Thailand without a visa or onward ticket. If you look affluent, at worst, they have you sign a form indemnifying them againsts any costs incurred should you be denied entry. For all you say about overbooked flights, unless you are checking in late, they are not yet aggressively looking to refuse people. They actually hate doing that as they know it probably loses them that customer for ever.

For all that, there is a risk, albeit a small one.

Yeah not going to take the risk I e posted to London today so get 60 day plus extend it for a 30 if need be , if I decide to stay the hole hog , which I usually do but , thanks all for the input some good points have been made
