Thinking about doing my extension of stay on Dec 11 which is the Bike for Dad day and heard that it might be declared a public holiday. Anybody know what the latest is and whether immi will be open or will they all be budding Miguel Indurain's. Cheers for any info.

I have not a seen any notice as of today of the 11th being made a public holiday. It was being proposed and discussed but has not confirmed.

It think I would choose a different day than the 11th anyway since it is a Friday and immigration will be closed on the 10th.

I dont know if it was labled as a holiday but my school decided to close that day so holiday for me.

I was told by my employer today that the government has decided that it will NOT be a holiday, although apparently at the end of last week they said it would. Figures.
