A_Fool_Will_Learn_In_No_Other!~ Confusius

Beginning in 1964, the mass arrival of western menfolk to the LoS, was (for the most part) ushered-in by the presence of the U.S. Army/ Air Force base construction personnel. 50-years hence, of the “Farang boy, meets the shy Thai-girl” phenomenon has been recounted, in every conceivable way, shape and form, as is humanly possible to count.

Assuming that an ordinary amount of common-sense would prevail, even when a westerner’s IQ – level is hindered by the minimum of 70, the gut-feeling, survival instincts of even a cockroach tends to prevail, in the absence of rational thinking.

Based upon the (consistently-uniform) documented personal experiences of Westerners, during this same half-century, books have been written on the “Do’s and Don’ts” topics of Western Expat life in Asia. And Thailand, in particular.

Bar-room & beer-pub debates (in Oz, the Uk, the EU, and North America) have abounded thru-out the years, on this single topic alone. Those stories have come from a multitude of western-expats hailing from different economic, ethnic, cultural, language and national background bases, of the western world. Yet, the story remains exactly, and consistently the same, 95% of the time.

Despite all the available historical data, to be found, via the internet, every October/November, the western (50+years-old) snow-bird exodus begins, with a new batch of recently retired, newbie farangs, anxious to prove that their (individual) LoS experience will totally negate, then prove 50-years of history to totally false, and inaccurate. The “My Thai “gf” is different” syndrome, readily comes to mind.

Perhaps its time to finally put the topic to rest, especially sense nothing will ever change, particularly among the majority members of the Richard Forbrain Society of LoS Expats.

All things considered, here’s the blunt (plain truth) conclusion, according to my next-door Russian neighbor: Enjoy! https://youtu.be/ECpm6wYNUoc

I would have thought that was the peak time when they were arriving, not "exodus - ing."

You're very optimistic. The Richard Forbrain membership will only grow exponentially and each member will feel compelled to share his "unique" experiences as illustrated here http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/872095-my-altimeter-gauge-for-assessing-the-value-of-the-asia-lady/

Exodus from the West, to the Los, is what I meant. Thanks for making that point, and for your contribution to the thread. Cheers!
