This may be for the guys who go to a bar not primarily to meet girls.

My favourite? The Kangaroo Bar in Phuket (Bangla).

Why? It's small and intimate. Always a friendly chap on the stools or in the back. No air-con! Sort of outdoors, but many fans, which makes it endurable. Cute and friendly girls that occasionally even dance on the bar. Rarely a four-by-four - or any other game - on the counter and rarely the odd "Hey hansom man, what your name, where you from?". Good music. Not only Eminem etc. Some 80's and 90's and some from the charts. All kinds of music. (The first place I've heard "Summer nights" from Grease and some AC/DC song back to back). They take requests (even Norwegian drinking songs!). A small dance floor and a TV. Some farang girls sometimes stumbles in, which makes you appreciate the Thais even more. Could it get any better than that?

My vote is the Sugar Shack in Soi pttyland 1 about 10 years ago.

When it was run by Greg, Stony and a few others. Good pool table , one of the first bars to serve strongbow cider. The best place to kick back and watch the action , especially at about 1800 when the masses started work mainly on the way to the Best Friend bar around the corner...literally hundreds of them...bless....Happy Daze...

Has to be enclosed to keep those pesky vendors out-all else pales in comparison. People are what make a pub at any rate- not the establishment.

Hmmm I once stumbled accoss a lesbian bar in SF many moons back.

Oh there was plenty of dancing,touching,kissing.

Unfortunately the ladies in question resembled a 3rd division rugby teams collective backsides....
