to be fair, the new york times is ultra left wing...

they hate the US military, they hate America and they hate themselves.

so anything to do the military of any country they go crazy.

notice there is no mention of thai government stimulus spending or "schemes" and the long term negative effects?

thais party like there is no tomorrow, because there is only right now.

their neighbors have been eating white rice and rat meat and have been going as they are told for 50 years.

so party on thailand!

Wow, quite a rant. Kudos to you!! It's been a while since I read an equally "tinfoil hatted" post.

When you're so far out on the loony left wing that you're almost in orbit, even a moderate lefty looks like Attila the Hun.

To disagree with the statement that the NY Times is ultra left wing, hates the military and hate themselves is loony left??

Wonder what kind of weird alternative reality you live in.blink.png

My reality is the one where a poster is allowed to hold a different opinion without being subject to ridicule.

Foreign perceptions

The Prayut government and Somid can cite Thai consumer confidence, SME, Domestic Production, etc. Indices to hopefully encourage Thai investors to continue plowing capital into Thailand's collapsing economy. But the strength of capital investment into Thailand businesses still comes largely from foreign sources.

And foreign investor perception is not so susceptible to Prayut's propaganda as they can rely on an array of indepdendent information sources to draw an economic roadmap on the sustainability of the Thai economy. That roadmap now doesn't show a high speed highway to the Horn of The Cornucopia.

That's not to say foreign investment will cease. Investors are opportunists. But they will come at a high price, ie., 30%+ rate of return, for the perceived risks in investing such as a military-driven economic prioritization, lack of a near-term stabilized government, arbitrary laws and regulations, tainted judicial system, etc.

What's up? I posted this article's link yesterday, and then the thread was closed due to sensitive topic. Ok, I can understand that. That's the rules, but why post it now after you deleted my thread?

I normally don't read the NYT because of blatant bias but this article was on the Yahoo news page over the weekend. It really was well written and something that does sum up the current situation here so I will kudos to them. The Junta groupies will have a problem with it though, as for them everything is so much better now that they are in charge.

“No one feels like smiling anymore,” niether does anyone in New york!

"Robberies and other property crimes have risen more than 60 percent this year" .New york crime rate was higher than the national violent crime rate average by 65.24% and the city property crime rate in New York was average by 39.77%.

New York Times, maybe you should clean up your own back yard before you criticize others.

I am sure if you went through the poorer parts of New York you would get the same type of answers that were given by the Thai’s that were interviewed, if they were interviewed at all.

What is the purpose and who motivated the NYT to publicise this story?
