I am married to a Thai and soon going back to Thailand. All the new regulations drive me somehow crazy.

If I enter the country with a non o multiple entry visa I can stay 4 times three months, right? Do I have to show at the border money like 400,000 baht or proof a monthly income of 40,000 baht?

My understanding is, that I have to show the 400 k just for the extension? If I don't want to have an extension but get a new visa after one year, there should be no problem?

Maybe it might be easier to enter with a back to back tourist visa, but I wouldn't be happy with this solution.

The regs are not new...just a tightening of old rules.

right, but not quite right....as you can stay 5 [five] times 90 days.

Proof of income/cash deposit only needed when applying for retirement visa or extension. However , when doing the "visa run", you may be asked to show 20 000baht....I have never been asked to show any cash...so far !

Should be no problem, but to get a one year visa, you have to go to your home country.

I do hope I have interpreted the regs correctly! If not, someone with more knowledge will soon tell you, and shoot me down!

I hope this hasn't changed, it's the way i've stayed in Thailand for the last 6 years.

I'm married to a Thai, not old enough for a retirement visa, work as a freelance writer on the internet so can't show guaranteed income, so my best, and really only, option is to get a 12 month, mulit-entry Non-Imm "O", do a border run every 3 months and go back home for a new visa every 15 months..... it's worked well so far, so fingers crossed they don't mess with this as well.....
