Another one of the weird obsessional foods I learnt to love after spending some time in England. Why they are called 'mince' is a whole other can of worms!

Anyhoo, I actually found some of the little darlings on a recent trip to Bangkok in the food hall in Siam Paragon. I was hoping that I would be able to get them in Tops in KK....now I'm wishing I had stocked up on a few more packs!

Uhh... you mean the TOPS market in the basement of Robinsons next to ASOK ? Or the Villa Market next to Phrom Phong?

They're called mince pies because they used to contain minced meat. Now the meat is only suet, ie the fat from round the kidneys.

I make my own mince with dried fruits and use butter instead of suet. So I can have tarts as well as pies!
