Except this does beggar the question - how was immigration able to identify them so easily? If they can search their database and come up with Syrian passport holders on overstay then why can this not be done for any nationality? Why the huge sensation causing announcement of a crackdown on overstayers a while back? Huge fines if you fail to hand yourself in but no countrywide search and arrests... All hot air from new appointees? Perhaps these 4 Syrians were only the ones they could find up till now, in warehouse #576 where all 300 million 'current' TM6s are filed. The search continues... More paperwork and 15 day reporting instead of 90.............. Absolutely right, because we all know that potential terrorists are meticulous in their reporting to immigration offices, and no terrorist would ever bribe a border officer and sneak into the country without filling in every possible report and providing 20 photocopies of his grandmother's driving licence...... Still it makes sense to harass every vaguely arab-looking man at the immigration line at the airport, holding up the lines while the officers hold a conference and short interrogation. Personally I advise every arab visitor to put on a turban, then they will be ignored by the police. Not right, I have seen Indians getting totally screamed at by Immigration @ Swampy. All but one is here legitimately, Visa, Extensions, Married, Children. 3 of the guys have handed themselves in, the other one will soon. What the hell happened to checking Immigrations records if they knew their names, and making arrests if they were terrorist suspects. We are entering a World War with ISIS/ISIL !! So, be careful !! There are more converted Christians who join ISIS than simple Muslim who are suffering from terrorism more than anyone. Nobody else has mentioned this, why can't the police act quietly and investigate before announcing everything?They didn't even arrest them, they just waited till they handed themselves in to clear their names, outstanding police work. Maybe what they should do is link every foreigner in Thailand to a crime, the ones that show up to the police station to clear their names are innocent, the ones who don't are guilty......This could be a whole new method of police work that could revolutionise the industry dramatically lowering costs and reducing crimes/criminals on the street.
