non-O visa border run or report to Immigration

Featured Replies

I have a 1 year non O visa and my first 90 day entry stamp will expire on Friday. I live near a border so I was wondering if a quick border run would be easier that going to Immigration and getting an extension or whatever it is I need to do there? Can I get another 90 day stamp at the immigration office? If so what is required? In the past I would usually leave the country for work so I have never run into this situation before.

You would need paperwork to obtain an extension of stay - if marriage to Thai your wife and proof of 400k in bank account in your name only for 2 months plus photos/marriage certificate/wife/residence proof and copies of passport/entry and ability to return in 30 days to obtain final approval of one year extension - and you would also require re-entry permit for any travel.

So yes - a border crossing and return would likely be easier - especially if overseas work might occur.

You can only get another 90 day stay by exit/re-entering at a border.

Assuming you're married you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay for 1,900 baht. You can apply before Friday. The extension will apply from the end of your 90 days regardless of when you apply. You need:-

  • TM7 form
  • Copy and original marriage certificate
  • Copy of your wife's ID
  • Copy of your wife's House Book (Tabien Baan)
  • Copies of your passport; ID page, entry stamp, visa, departure card (TM6).
  • TM30 form (maybe).
  • Your wife.

60 day extensions of stay to visit your wife can be made for any of your 90 day entries, but can only be made once per entry. You need to exit on or before the end of the 60 days or apply for a full 1 year extension.

Sound like you have a Non O (M)ultiple visa.

So go the border except you want to do a full more year that you get with the extension.

How long do you intend to stay in Thailand?

When does the visa expire (ENTER BEFORE date on the visa sticker)?

I just want another 90 day stamp. Yes I have a multiple entry 1 year O based on marriage visa. I may leave the country anytime if work calls me.

If you have a valid multi entry visa a new 90 day stamp can only be obtained by leaving Thailand, entering another country and then returning to Thailand.
