MOPH controls quality of private clinics

BANGKOK, 8 December 2015 (NNT) - The Department of Health Service Support has set standards for control of private clinics nationwide for the sake of the people's safety.

According to Boonreung Traireungworawat, director general of the department under the Ministry of Public Health, the agency has limited prescriptions at nursing and midwifery clinics to only 52 categories of medicine to their patients with nine types of mild symptoms.

Any clinics found to have stockpiled any types of medicine other than the prescribed ones are subject to a legal penalty by a maximum of one year in prison or a maximum of 20,000 baht in fine or both.

went to a call a week ago with an elderly lady who had just had eye surgery in a very small clinic and then for some reason went into cardiac arrest, 1 doctor and 2 nurses stood there and did nothing until rescue workers arrived to start CPR! How and why she went into cardiac arrest will remain a mystery I guess and nothing will happen about it either way. :/
