Hi guys, well its time again for another visa run to Savannakhet... After the new 6 months multiple entry tourist visas, has there been any changes?

Turn in documents then wait for one day and pick up visa the next day? And how about the visa application, does anyone have a download link to an application I can use in Savannakhet? My visa extension runs out the 22 of December...

Any feedback from people that have obtained the new 6 months multiple entry visa in Savannakhet would be appreciated...

And is the Thai embassy going to be open the 22-23 of December? I search online in their site but its all Thai I couldn't even download the new multiple visa application

Thanks.

You have to be a resident of Laos to get the multiple entry tourist visa. You can only get a single entry visa now.

The consulate in Savannakhet will be open every day of the week that starts on Monday the 21st.

Is that a 60 day with option to extend for 30 here?

Yep, that is what a Single Entry TR visa is.

60 Days and extend it for 1900 THB at an Immigration in Thailand to get an extra 30 days.

A single entry tourist visa allows one 60 day entry that can be extended at an immigration office for 30 days.

It is still a next day service but you can only get a single entry tourist visa locally to Thailand.

That all depends on one's nationality. Better to say that you can only get a single entry tourist visa outside of your home country.

Thanks for your reply. But does this mean that I have to apply for the multiple entry tourist visa in the Thai embassy in my OWN country?

And the single entry tourist visa fee is 1000 bath?

Edit: I live in Kalasin, could I make it if I took the bus early in the morning then hand in my application in time, at what time does the application hand in stop??

There is no limit, although you will find that many Embassies/Consulates within the region will limit the number of back to back visas they will issue.

Posted

is there any limit on the number of 60 day visas issued per person in one calendar year?

Not by Immigration rules, but consulates will limit how many they will give you, based on how many they count in your passport.

My interpretation of what to do about this long-term is here:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/870343-what-are-my-options-to-stay-longer-in-thailand/#entry10118023

Thank you Jack Thompson, your interpretation is very easy to follow.

I have entered Thailand about 16 times in the last 4 years, usually arriving by air.

Have only used the VE twice and 60 day tourist twice in that time. The other 10 arrivals were covered by an Apec Business Travel Card, now expired. I have subsequently retired and spend 9/10 months of the year in Thailand. At present the 60 days visa is my preferred option and will try for my 3 rd one early next year.

Do I understand that if there was a problem I would get a warning? Is the "warning" stamped in the passport? In that case obviously a new passport would be the solution.

Cheers and thanks.

Yes, at Laos they have historically put a "blue stamp" on the last visa they will issue. Back in the days of double-entry visa, they only issued you a single-entry, at that time.

The blue-stamp says "... will need to provide proof of address and income next time..." - but no reports verified of anyone meeting those requirements and getting subsequent visas - so we have no idea what the "income" requirement actually is, or how it is verified.

I do not know if this policy has / will-be continued into the "new era" where double-entries no longer exist. Let us hope so.

It would depend upon when the first bus leaves.

You have to be at the consulate by 11 am to submit your application.

Good service you are providing Jack, I will rotate the embassies and consulates, spend a few days out each time and hope to avoid the radar for the time being.

If it was me I would plan on traveling the afternoon before. An extra night would be better than something going wrong and getting there to late.

You could have a problem when you re-enter the country if they check your bags and find it. They re illegal here.

Not sure about Laos.

I had 3 tourist visa before, and I had a non o visa 2 times as well. Last time I had a singe entry tourist visa... My passport got 3 pages left 5555

Is there any new requirements for tourist visa, is it still only 1 entry not 2 entries anymore? And its 1000 baht pr entry?

BTW what are the requirements for a tourist visa?

Thanks in advance :D

As said before a single entry visa is all you can get. The fee is 1000 baht.

You will need your passport and copy of the photo page. A completed application form I posted a link for earlier in this topic.
