FRANCE -- Michel Platini has failed in his bid to overturn his 90-day ban from football’s world governing body FIFA.

The Frenchman, who heads European soccer’s UEFA, was suspended for allegedly accepting a “disloyal payment of nearly 2 million euros was upheld by the court of arbitration for sport (CAS).

CAS, which seeks to settle sports-related disputes, left the existing restriction in force until it expires on Jan. 5, 2016 on the grounds that it does not cause irreparable harm, according to a statement.

“However, the CAS panel considered that the situation would change if FIFA were to extend the provisional suspension for any period up to 45 days, on the basis of ‘exceptional circumstances,’ “ it said

Platini was the clear favourite to succeed Sepp Blatter until they were both questioned by Swiss authorities in September. They both face possible life bans when they appear before the FIFA ethics committee at its headquarters in Zurich next week.

Let's hope they ban this weasel and the Swiss midget for life, and any of the cronies that have helped protect them.

Agreed. It seems a considerable number of the upper FIFA hierarchy are as corrupt as hell and have literally made fortunes out of their corruption.

The story Platini and Blatter tell about this 2 million payment is like a little fairy story.

Hope the authorities go all the way on this, and not just FIFA's ethics committee.

Cannot stand looking at that slimy face, but they just won't go away....him and Blatter. They are so smug, because they know that if they get the chance, they would get back in office because they are so crooked....will they retire with all there ill gotten gains? Most likely...

A 5 year stint in prison is what they deserve, but they'd probably buy their way out of that too.
