December 12, 201510 yr Hi I need some advise. I am planning for a short trip to thailand from India ( 5 days) and my travel agent Thomas cook told me that I can apply for a tourist visa instead of on arrival visa to avoid long queues Now when I got back my passport , it says VOID. Not sure whose fault it was and i do not have any reason why its mentioned VOID Can I still apply for Visa on arrival at Phuket, or will there be an issue during immigartion , since there is a VOID stamp on my passport. Any experts please clarify, I would rather cancel my trip than be starnded in airport if there is any issue so please advice Edited December 12, 201510 yr by nisharani19
December 12, 201510 yr who put the void mark in the passport was there a visa and its been voided what is your nationality
December 12, 201510 yr Do you have another stamp with a valid visa? Did you pay for a visa? Sometimes they make a mistake and have to use such a stamp so it is not unusual to have and should not effect anything until there are reasons you would not qualify for a tourist visa (which you would normally be aware of).
December 12, 201510 yr Author I posted the image as well... there is no reason why i should not get visa..i have been travelling to multiple countries. My only concern is that if i now go for on arrival visa... will there be any issue at the immigration center

December 12, 201510 yr Author I am not sure why it is mentioned transit visa,... is this something the travel agent goofed up. All i wanted was a tourist visa for 5 days
December 12, 201510 yr Image was not on original post - that is a transit visa rather than a tourist visa and reason is clearly marked (not transit) as the reason void.
December 12, 201510 yr Is there another visa in your passport? All the "Void" stamp means is that the visa was cancelled. Did you pay? I see no reason why you shouldn't get a VOA via the usual route, make sure you have all the requirements. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
December 12, 201510 yr You shouldn't have any problem getting a VOA. Looks like they've issued a transit visa then realised you didn't qualify so voided it.
December 12, 201510 yr Author Hi IopBuri and others So will this VOID mark create issues when I go for Immigration...and visa on arrival
December 12, 201510 yr This is the visa you or agent should have applied for - if you were charged and there is no other visa in your passport you should claim refund from travel agent for there mistake. As said it should not be any problem getting on arrival if you do not have time to try again. http://www.vfs-thailand.co.in/Delhi/tourist.html
December 12, 201510 yr No there is nothing negative about that stamp on a visa that was incorrect - it is clearly marked why it was incorrect.
December 12, 201510 yr see here no mention of tourist visa's - http://www.indianembassy.in.th/pages.php?id=122 Not sure the Indian embassy is the best location to find info about visas to Thailand. Info from VFS website that process Thai visas in India: http://www.vfs-thailand.co.in/Delhi/tourist.html
December 13, 201510 yr Did the travel agency charge you for a tourist visa, then applied for the cheaper transit visa ?
December 13, 201510 yr Author Did the travel agency charge you for a tourist visa, then applied for the cheaper transit visa ? Yes I went for the well known Thomas Cook travel agency. They charged me for a tourist visa and then got me a transit visa with VOID printed on it. They told me they cannot give any refund and that it is the discretion of the embassy to issue me a transit visa when they applied for tourist. I am an Indian with a trip to Singapore for few days and then to Phuket for few days, then back to Singapore for few days and then back to India. Is this the reason why I was issued a transit visa and not tourist ?

It could be that you paid for a more expensive tourist visa, the travel agent guy who applied requested a cheaper transit visa and then kept the difference (in price)
