I want to ship a small box containing a Christmas gift from Thailand to my some friends in Italy.

The box is very light weight, I need to ask if someone knows how much it will cost to ship from Thailand to Europe, regular mail

I would also like to know if the recipient must pay any import duty tax.

send it 'economy air' from any post office, very reasonable, they say it takes up to a month but usually arrives in the uk in less than two weeks. the closer we get to christmas the slower it will be though...
