Myanmar man jailed for defaming religion
Eleven Myanmar

Yangon - A Yangon court yesterday sentenced a man to three years and three months in jail with hard labour for defaming religion.

Khin Maung Myint received the jail sentence after being charged on three counts, including religious defamation.

On July 20, he swore and attacked a religious emblem in front of the Sangyoung Township Police Station. He was then sent to the psychiatric hospital in Ywathagyi after he was found to suffer from mental illness, according to the police interrogation.

Sub-inspector Than Htike from the Sangyoung Township Police Force served as the plaintiff in the lawsuit against him. Eleven plaintiff's witnesses testified in court.
