December 17, 201510 yr Currently on a double entry tourist visa where my final extension of stay will end in January. As flights back to my home country are really expensive (about 60% more) as Jan is a peak season I'm thinking about flying out then back in from a neighbouring country, probably Singapore using Tigerair/Scoot on the same day as this would be cheaper & give me more time in Thailand. This would give me another 30 days in Thailand then I could possibly extend another 30 days at Immigration. After those 60 days I would fly back to my home country to apply for a METV. If I book a same day return ticket from BKK to Singapore to BKK, do you think Singapore will ask me if I have a ticket out of Thailand & possibly deny me boarding if I haven't booked it yet? I'm not sure yet if I would fly back to my home country after the 30 days in Thailand or 60 days after extending at Immigration.
December 17, 201510 yr I have seen reports of them being picky at Singapore about the onward flight requirement. If you are from a G7 country you would get 30 days by doing a border hop. If not it would give you 15 days.
December 17, 201510 yr Author I have seen reports of them being picky at Singapore about the onward flight requirement. If you are from a G7 country you would get 30 days by doing a border hop. If not it would give you 15 days. Unfortunately Australia isn't a G7 country & I feel more comfortable flying than doing a land border hop. What would happen if Singapore was picky about the onward flight requirement? I would be stuck in Singapore? lol
December 17, 201510 yr You could then buy for a cheap one way ticket to a nearby country to meet the onward ticket requirement.
December 17, 201510 yr Author You could then buy for a cheap one way ticket to a nearby country to meet the onward ticket requirement. If I did in fact have a one way ticket back to Australia 60 days after my entry back to BKK which I carried with me to Singapore, would Singapore accept this even though I would be coming back to BKK on a 30 day exempt then extending for another 30 days at Immigration?
December 17, 201510 yr The requirement is a ticket out within 30 days of arrival. They might though accept a ticket within 60 days since it is possible to get a 30 day extension.
December 17, 201510 yr Maybe I'm just lucky but fly out of Singapore regularly on Air Asia and never asked for a return ticket. May be relevant but always look like a business traveller when I check in. Have had problems on 30 exempt entry at Don Muang though.
December 17, 201510 yr I am currently in the same situation, and will buy 3 tickets at the same time just to be safe, to Singapore and back in one ticket, and to Singapore again after 30 days. Will not use the second ticket though, as I will also apply for a METV after that. Tickets to Singapore were the cheapest I could find, so one outbound ticket extra will come at a very low cost.
