If possible.... Quick answer on a Mae Sai Question

Featured Replies

Have things changed again...... a person with a Dutch Passport going to Mae Sai , crossing and return, on visa exempt.... will a Dutch Person get 30 days or other ??? If you can give a quick answer would be much appreciated.

gonzo

Last I heard, no more visa exemptions at Mae Sai. (as of 2 weeks ago)

Gonzo my understanding also is that Thai Immigration will not allow you to cross and return if one is only on a visa exempt stay.

Multiple entry visas are different. The big crack down on visa/border jumpers is still in effect.

I could be wrong but thats the current info Im working by.

A similar question was just recently answered here on the CM forum (before it was relocated).

in that thread,

Did you know that you can have your first 30 day visa exempt entry extended at CM Immigration's Promenada office for another 30 days for 1900 baht? No need to wait until the final day -- the 30 day extension will be added to the date of expiration of your original entry.

Don't let the thread about CM Imm. Prom. office scare you off. All that nattering is about retirement extensions. The process of getting a 30 day extension for a visa-exempt entry is fairly straight-forward at the Promenada office. Show up around 8 am and get in the "tourist extension" queue. Be sure to bring something that has your current address in writing. You won't believe how many tourists have no idea of what to put on the form for their local address.

You'll need your passport, 1900 baht and a 4 cm x 6 cm photo, but the copy shop next door to Imm. can sort out the photo and copies for you for a couple hundred baht.

No out/in crossings are allowed at Mae Sai. Nearest place is Chiang Khong to do one.

The 30 day extension is your best option.

please see your local immigration office.

Topic moved to Visa section.

Possibly somebody can assist here.

Mae Sai will not allow a crossing unless they have a valid visa for re-entry. No out/in visa exempt crossing are allowed.

He could go to the Chiang Khong crossing to Laos and do an out/in for a 15 day visa exempt entry. Only those from G7 countries get 30 days.

If he is on a visa exempt entry now he could get a 30 day extension at immigration if he has not done one already for his current entry.

Is it still true that if a person flys in to CM International that they still get a 30 day visa exempt??? Not 14 but 30 day..... Dutch passport.

It was that flying in from out of the country you get 30 days visa exempt and land crossings, non G7 country you get 14 days...in other words there is no chance of flying in to CM and you get a 14 day visa exempt.... is that correct?

Flying in allows a 30 day visa exempt entry for all nationalities that qualify for one. By land it 15 days unless from a G7 country that allows a 30 day entry.

I was up in Mae Sai about 2 weeks ago .They have a sigh in English by the Thai immigration office saying ''no visa runs''
