Wp1 or Wp3 change of procedure?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have been offered a job starting next year and have located a lawyer to help with the work permit and Non B process.

I am in Thailand at the moment on a tourist visa and am being told that I have to be outside the country when they SUBMIT the WP 3 and they will then forward the receipt etc to me outside the country. I would presume a weeks wait from start to finish?

I always thought there was an option to submit while in the country and then take the required documents abroad for a non B. However my lawyer has said this has changed.

Any ideas?

thanks

Dom

I don't think that is correct. This may be a communications issue...you simply need to leave the country for the Non-B.

Normally a WP1 application form is used and a work permit application approval letter is issued. Then you would get the non-b visa issued using the approval letter as one of the supporting documents needed.

Why are you paying a lawyer to do it. That should be something your employer would do.

Some MOE offices, like Kalasin require the Non B before they will issue the W.P. Although they may give a receipt for such after all documentation is verified but not the W.P. itself.

I have never ever been out of the country when the W.P. is issued or applied for. Your lawyer don't know shit from shinola. How can you get a W.P you must pick it up in person even if a lawyer submits the documents to the office for you... No one but you can pick it up. Your Lawyer cannot. This is from my personal experience.

The Lawyer has said the procedure has changed? If you actually look at the WP1 application notes from the government and at the top of the first English paragraph it says in bold that I must have a Non Immigrant visa to apply in Thailand (i am on tourist) http://wp.doe.go.th/wp/images/form/Form_tt1.pdf

The procedure havn't changed recently, but you are correct in that you strictly need to be on a non immigrant visa entry to be able to follow the WP1 route.

You don'/t need to waste money on a lawyer; between you and your employer, you should be able to sort out all the required paper work - worse case use a para-legal, say from an accounting firm/agency, it's much cheaper.
