'Don't Drive Drunk, Back Home Safely’ New Year Road Safety Campaign launched

BANGKOK, 22 December 2015 (NNT) - Thai Traffic Police and Diageo Moet Hannessy (Thailand) have launched the sixth phase of 'Don’t Drive Drunk, Back Home Safely' New Year Road Safety Campaign. Pol.Col.Veeraveet Vatjanapukka, deputy traffic police commander, said the campaign will contribute to the concrete and sustainable reduction in alcohol-related road accidents, especially during the upcoming New Year’s festival.”

The sixth phase of the 'Don’t Drive Drunk, Back Home Safely' New Year Road Safety Campaign focuses on proactive prevention by providing tests for alcohol content in blood to travelers and partygoers at varied entertainment venues and encouraging revelers to never drive after drinking and instead to use chauffeur services from ''U Drink, I Drive'' uber service and a free service, which otherwise charges 300 baht, for new uber app users.

"The activity is designed to raise awareness of road safety and responsible drinking to educate alcohol drinkers about the effects of alcohol on driving through DRINKiQ, and to consider using such services or other public transports to get home safely,” Mr Thanakorn Kuptajit, Corporate Relations Director of Diageo Moet Hannessy (Thailand) added.

Activities under the campaign will be conducted every Friday and Saturday night starting from December 25, 2015 until January 2016 at the participating entertainment venues.

Around Pattaya, they've upped the game significantly recently. Police checkpoints are everywhere. The fine is now some 25,000B. Payable after they put you in jail. But then you are free to go home. Probably still drunk! LOL It's all about money.

There will be more and I mean much more deaths this year then last year. Just look at the number of new drivers on the road this year as compared to last year. The police do nothing to stop these illegal and careless drivers.
