"Maybe it is time to see if a Technocratic government would work."

For that to work you need good, clean (corruption wise) and altruistic people in power and that's not going to happen in Thailand anytime soon.

Is it more likely to happen with elected MPs paid to be members of a political party, with a PM and a party list appointed due to the votes they bring?

As many of us have pointed out repeatedly; when the people decide who should be in power and there is a high degree of freedom of expression at least there is a chance for Thai politics to evolve into something more positive than what's been the case for the last 80+ years. With the constant interference of the military there is absolutely NO chance that will happen.

Do try to pay attention, halloween.coffee1.gif

And I have pointed out, that is simply BS. Those perverting democracy to gain power have no inclination to change the system that allows them to gain office, or to write laws not in their own interest. There is a chance for improvement NOW, even if the current administration is flawed.

What the junta has achieved is stopping the constant deadly civil unrest by ill disciplined people led by those who have personal ambitions of power and greed on the pretence of doing something for their child like followers. Those in power or with personal ambitions of power (and greed) always manage to justify their "actions" by saying it is for the good of Thai peoples. There are deep seated cultural issues that need to change. Cronyism, corruption, control of the media and lack of personal accountability are some that come to mind. Democracy or military government is not going to change that in the short term. One area that could be vastly improved which may lead to a better society is a real commitment to EDUCATION. But past and present governments themselves do not seem smart enough to learn from other Asian nations? Perhaps the status quo suits current and past leaderships? If citizens cannot exercise self discipline then an early return to democracy, as demanded by many, may not be the best alternative either. The current administration needs to do more and smarter to turn the country around economically and culturally and forget about writing songs for happiness of Thai peoples. whistling.gif
