As Cambodia talks cooperation on a nuclear power plant and expertise with Russia, Prime Minister Hun Sen is urging China to increase its lending to help the country boost its electricity production. Nuclear power was discussed during Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s recent visit to Phnom Penh.

“Russia promised to help establish a nuclear power plant,” he said yesterday at the inauguration ceremony for the Chinese-funded Tatay River hydroelectricity project in Koh Kong province. “One day soon, we will produce electricity through nuclear power,” he added, dismissing objections by environmentalists.
